ABOUT CARLOS PEREZ LORCA
Originally from Spain, visual artist Carlos Perez Lorca was born in Belgium in 1964. He lives and works in Brussels.

Perez Lorca often draws inspiration from his bittersweet childhood marked by years of isolation in a pediatric center for chronic diseases. As a young child, he started drawing to process his pain and feeling of abandonment.

Whether through photography, painting, sculpture or installation, Perez Lorca appropriates objects from the realm of childhood and infuses them with an uncanny emotional charge. Under their dreamy appearance, his works convey powerful messages reaching to the core of adult sufferings.

Carlos Perez had solo exhibitions at the Young Gallery and Espace Art 22 in Brussels. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Young Gallery and Gryse Gallery in Belgium, Jeune Création and La Villette in Paris, and the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Austria. He is the co-founder of the VP Art Gallery in Brussels.
